This is an outstanding vacuum cleaner. It is basically very similar to the Dyson DC23, and seems to have better performance at less than half the price. Unlike the Dyson, it actually has a powered brush head (not air driven, but an actual motor), which works very well both on carpets and on hard floors. It has very powerful suction, and it does not seem to have any issues with clogging up. The canister is removable and is very easy to remove and empty into the trash. For the Pros & Cons, we just based or extracted it on customers reviews who have used the Hoover MultiCyclonic Canister SH40060.

Pros:

• – Incredible suction. Does not lose power no matter how much pet hair we pick up and it does not clog.
• – Powered beater head. Most inexpensive vacuums have heads that rely on suction to turn the beater and slowly become less and less efficient as they lose suction.
• – Solid, quality construction. The hose leading to the beater is metal and all other parts are thick heavy-duty plastic. No cheap plastic parts.
• – Flared bristles on the beater bar. Great for cleaning all the way up to the baseboards without having to go back around the room with the crevice tool.
• – Standard hose attachment size. We’ve accumulated several attachments from previous cleaners that we like to use (upholstery brush, blind cleaner) and they all fit this new vacuum.
• – Easy to empty canister. No filters or lids to remove and it back on. Just push the button and dump.
• – Washable filters. Including a HEPA filter
• – Retractable cord.
• – THE SUCTION…again, it really is fantastic and stays that way.

Cons:

• – The cord is a bit short. An extra 3-5 ft would have been great
• – No swivel on the hose. It doesn’t swivel/rotate at either end (where hose connects to vacuum or where hose connects to gun) so it tends to get tangled or bent and awkward at times.
• – The hose and beater portion only store/attach to the vacuum in one position. It would be great if there was another clip where you could attach the hose/beater to the vacuum while it was standing upright to save even more storage room.
• – Fixed beater bar height. We have all hardwood floors so this isn’t an issue, but this might be a pain for someone that has a mix of hardwood and carpet or a lot of rugs.

I must say, I’m impressed with the mapping system on this little guy. I have a very large (20′X20′) open living room/kitchen area giving plenty of obstacles to confuse it. There’s a staircase (which it deftly avoids), an island, a kitchen table with chairs, a couch and a number of tables for it to go under, an area rug and a piece of curved beveled glass on the floor that serves as a stand for a fireplace (which it surprisingly does not ride up on). Also, the room is overall “U” shaped with several entryways. This is the only robotic cleaner that has been able to figure this room out in its entirety. Other things to note is the room has a large fan and high, sloped ceilings and it can still find it’s way.

My Roomba did terribly. It would get stuck in one section, the Neato XV was OK but would miss some parts. This thing does a great job of freshening up the floor and getting at just about everything due to it’s small size!

For the Pros & Cons, we just based it on customers experience who have used the Evolution Robotics Mint Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner, 4200.


Pros:

• Noise levels are good. It drives about very quietly. It is a bumper-bot though. Which is where most of the noise comes from. Though every bump really matters as it is mapping the room.
• Speed is good. Not the fastest but very efficient. It really gets at every spot in a methodical fashion.
• Battery life is good. Not the fastest at charging but a long enough life to get through more than a couple rooms per charge.
• Wet pads are very good and stay damp for a longer amount time than I would have imagined. The floor is drier behind the mint than if I were mopping the floor myself!

Cons:

• – This does NOT do a deep clean. That takes elbow grease and this, naturally, is not heavy enough to scrub that well (you wouldn’t want it to be that heavy). You will have to do a deep clean first. The Mint will then maintain that clean floor. I use it about once a week.
• – The designers did a generally good job, except for the week when they all took vacation at once and let the janitor decide where to put the charging port. Believe or not, these idiots put the port in a spot on the underside of the unit. You have to turn the thing upside down to plug the charger in. An automatic charging-base system would have been a much better approach than having to plug it in manually every time.
• – Sweeping: does an ok job, but it would be difficult for such a device to get everything. It is more useful when cleaning (washing).
• – Washing (as opposed to sweeping) battery life is about 2 hours and it takes about 45 minutes to do a 12 x 20 area having several obstacles (island, tables, multiple angle walls, etc.).
• – While the Mint senses an overhang and will not fall off, it does often stop moving and generates an error message. It’s as though it gets confused and just gives up.

Dyson DC28 Animal is an upright vacuum cleaner particularly designed to cater to homes with cats and dogs.  This is because  Dyson’s patented design enables the comb to adjust and roll lower whereas lowering the cleaning head into the floor to enable a deep clean action. A tighter seal has been enabled on swish floors while you’re within the act of vacuuming.

Dyson DC28 is also equipped with Air Muscle technology which utilizes three Dyson-designed components. The pneumatic actuator works to control the cleaner head. Another piece is powered by a cam to enable the vacuum head to remain at its optimal performance for cleaning varied lengths of carpet.

We finally made the plunge and converted from carpet to hardwood floors. So naturally we needed new equipment for cleaning floors. Growing up, my parents always had Electrolux vacuum cleaners, the cylindrical (heavy!) bag types, and they seemed to work forever! We went looking around to all the dept stores and home improvement places, read some reviews (on Amazon) and decided that this model would be very nice. We didn’t actually try it out at the stores, but checked the features, build quality and sturdiness.
All seemed good, and we ordered one on Amazon.
As is usually the case, the items arrived quickly and in very good shape.

Purchased this vacuum cleaner about a month ago and use it almost daily. I already had 4 canister vacuum cleaners of different brands because I use one each for the upstairs, downstairs, basement and garage, and one needed to be retired. Our entire house (including finished full basement) has either solid wood or tile floors – with a lot of Persian rugs everywhere. I do not own a vacuum cleaner with a power brush head because I do not want to beat and scratch the wood floors. This Electrolux was designed to be used on solid floors and area rugs. It is very quiet, significant suction, lots of features and the build quality is outstanding ….

I have stone floors and wood floors with oriental carpets and kilims – which are flat weave carpets. My house is also two stories with a flight of stairs about 20 feet up.

I also have a lot of birds and 2 puppies. So, I saw this vacuum. 14 lbs is easy to carry with that compact size and great handle. Going green makes me feel good, too. I used it today. Wow. The adjustible suction and noise control, light weight, adjustible heights and swivel everything – I could not believe how easy it was to use. It picked up everything and I could easily go off the carpet onto stone or wood just by pushing the suction adjustment with my finger.The edge of the carpets did not get picked up in the suction moving off to the floor and it did not grab the threads on the edges, either.

Pros:

• On the plus side, this vacuum is very quiet!
• And it’s got plenty of power for cleaning hard wood floors, rugs, and the low-pile carpet

Cons:

• My biggest complaint is that it is very difficult to use to clean upholstery. There is an attachment, but it attaches at the end of a long metal tube that gives you very little flexibility for vacuuming a sofa, cushions, etc. It’s really very awkward.
• One additional, minor complaint is that is kind of heavy and awkward to carry upstairs. But overall, it’s a good vacuum. Oh, and it’s great to have a bagged vacuum again — having had a bagless vacuum before, I would NEVER, ever get one again.

The machine worked fast and the suction power was amazing! After 2 minutes the carpets looked like new (before they had always looked a bit grayish after vacuuming as all the pet hairs were never completely removed). The edge-cleaner did a great job at rounding up those tiny pine needles that dropped from a Christmas garlands and the the powerful suction easily collected the holiday glitter. It picks up even the tiniest particles in a single pass.

The suction is unbelievable as it makes your rug much brighter as if steam-cleaned but it also allows you to quickly & easily reduce the suction for more delicate surfaces (since the power & variable suction controls are at your fingertips).

Unlike an upright vaccum, you do not have to remove the head then switch to a hose when moving from rugs to hardwood flooring. You simply push a button. It is an excellent cleaner but because of plastic parts in some areas this could be a concern.

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. There is no need to go around the room cleaning the edges with the smaller attachment. My floors and carpets have never been cleaner. This is good in that it sucks up all the dirt, but kind of a hassle. The attachment for the stairs is a little weak and it does not always spin around. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. It is easy to use and has convenient hand buttons for operation and tools on board. It is light to carry as well.
